Woman Attacked by Monkey in Shenzhen

A monkey attacked a woman on top of Lotus Hill on Saturday, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The woman, surnamed Wang, was doing exercises at the popular hilltop square at about 6 AM when the monkey appeared.

After eating some fruit thrown by people, the monkey suddenly attacked Wang, biting her legs.

Wang was sent to a nearby hospital, where she received tetanus shots.

Security guards at Lotus Hill Park said the monkey was still there. "We tried to drive it away, but it will appear again soon," said a security guard.

Tourists at Lotus Hill Park are often attacked by monkeys despite warning signs erected in the park.
